The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando now covers three lands across all three Universal theme parks:
- Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure (opened 2010)
- Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida (opened 2014)
- Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe (opened 22 May 2025)
I’ve been to Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley multiple times across previous Universal Orlando trips, and first visited Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe in May 2026.
To visit all three Wizarding World lands, you’ll need at least two days at Universal Orlando: one day for Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, and one for Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.

Across these three theme parks, there are dozens of themed shows, stores, restaurants as well as six Harry Potter rides:
- Hogwarts Express (Universal Studios & Hogsmeade)
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts (Universal Studios)
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Hogsmeade)
- Flight of the Hippogriff (Hogsmeade)
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (Hogsmeade)
- Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry (Epic Universe)

You used to be able to visit both Wizarding World areas in one day, but since the Ministry of Magic opened at Epic Universe in May 2025, all three lands need at least two days.
Day one covers Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, connected by the Hogwarts Express (you’ll need a park-to-park pass) while Day two covers Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.

Diagon Alley splits into two distinct areas:
- London
- Diagon Alley
You’ll see the London area when you’re walking around the lagoon. Meanwhile, Diagon Alley is hidden behind the iconic brick wall, just like in the films and books.

The first thing you’ll notice in London is the iconic Knight Bus. The attendant and the Shrunken Head are in character and worth a chat for a great photo. There’s no official queue, and wait times rarely stretch beyond a few minutes.

You can find one of the more hidden interactions in London at 12 Grimmauld Place. Knock on the door and look for Kreacher peering out from behind the curtains.

Finally, the red telephone booth in front of Diagon Alley’s entrance is more than just a prop. Dial 62442 (MAGIC) to connect to the Ministry of Magic.
The first of two Harry Potter rides at Universal Studios Florida is the Hogwarts Express train ride in London. The trip departs from King’s Cross Station and takes you to Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure.

I timed the trip on my May 2026 VIP Tour at exactly 4 minutes start to finish. The train actually moves on tracks, with a screen-based experience along the carriage windows recreating the journey.
Since the ride connects two Universal parks, you’ll need a park-to-park ticket to board the Hogwarts Express.
When you go behind the brick wall from London, you’re entering Diagon Alley which is split into four separate areas:
- Diagon Alley (main street)
- Knockturn Alley
- Horizont Alley
- Carkitt Market

The first thing you’ll notice in Diagon Alley is the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon atop Gringotts Bank. This dragon breathes fire roughly every ten minutes and is the most iconic Wizarding World photograph you can get.

This Gringotts Bank is actually the cover for the only ride inside Diagon Alley, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. The 3D dark ride takes you through the goblin-run vaults and ends with a fire-breathing dragon finale.

If you walk all the way to the end of Diagon Alley, you’ll make it onto Horizont Alley. Turn left when you get to Gringotts Bank and walk all the way to the end to find Knockturn Alley. Alternatively, turn right and follow it around to find Carkitt Market.

The stores inside Diagon Alley include:
- Ollivanders
- Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes
- Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions
- Shutterbutton’s Photography Studio
- Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment
- Quality Quidditch Supplies
- Scribbulus, Magical Menagerie
- Globus Mundi, Borgin and Burkes
- Gringotts Money Exchange
- The Owl Post
- Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop
- Museum of Muggle Curiosities

There are also some facade shop fronts in Diagon Alley. You can’t enter these stores, but the exterior is perfect for taking photos or casting spells with interactive wands. They include:
- Flourish and Blotts
- Slug and Jiggers Apothecary
- Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary
Carkitt Market hosts two live shows on its outdoor stage:
- Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees: A wizarding cabaret performance with character songs including “A Cauldron Full Of Hot, Strong Love” and “You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart.”
- Tales of Beedle the Bard: A puppet show that alternates between “The Fountain of Fair Fortune” and “The Tale of the Three Brothers.”

Both shows run multiple times a day. Check the Universal Orlando app for current showtimes.
Hidden interactions in Diagon Alley:
- Knight Bus attendant and Shrunken Head, both in character for a chat or photo
- 12 Grimmauld Place, knock on the door for Kreacher peeking out from behind the curtains
- Red telephone booth in front of Diagon Alley, dial 62442 (MAGIC) for a recorded Ministry message
- Fire-breathing Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon on top of Gringotts, breathes roughly every ten minutes
- Interactive wand spells at medallion spots throughout the shops
- Gringotts Money Exchange in Carkitt Market, talk to the goblin teller
The eateries inside Diagon Alley include:
- The Leaky Cauldron
- The Hopping Pot
- Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment
- Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour

Islands of Adventure: Hogsmeade
🎢 Rides: Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff & Hogwarts Express
🎙️ Shows: The Frog Choir & Triwizard Spirit Rally
🍽️ Restaurants: The Three Broomsticks & Hog’s Head Pub
🍔 Food Stores & Carts: Butterbeer Cart & Honeydukes
🛍️ Stores: Ollivanders, Dervish and Banges, Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods, Honeydukes & Gladrags Wizardwear. (Zonko’s Joke Shop closed in 2014; the space was absorbed into the Honeydukes expansion.)
Hogsmeade is the entire Wizarding World of Harry Potter area at Islands of Adventure. There are two iconic photo spots here:
- In front of the Hogwarts Express facade
- On the bridge in front of Hogwarts Castle

If you arrive in Hogsmeade before general guest admission (a benefit of staying in a Universal Orlando hotel), you may find the Hogwarts Express facade blocked by the line for Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure.
Hogsmeade has four Harry Potter rides in total, more than any other Wizarding World area.
- Hagrid’s Motorbike coaster
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- Flight of the Hippogriff
- the Hogwarts Express train

Hagrid’s comes off Universal Express Pass on 1 July 2026. From that date the only options are standby queue or the Single Rider line. If your trip falls after 1 July 2026, plan to rope-drop Hagrid’s first thing or rely on Early Park Admission if you’re staying at an on-site Universal hotel.
There are fewer shops in Hogsmeade than in Diagon Alley. In the books, Hogsmeade was the village students could visit on the weekend from their third year onwards, while Diagon Alley was the shopping district they hit before each Hogwarts year.

There’s a wand shop at each of the three Wizarding World lands:
- Ollivanders at Diagon Alley (Universal Studios Florida)
- Ollivanders at Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure)
- Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique at Place Cachée (Epic Universe)
Of the three, Ollivanders at Hogsmeade is the one I’d recommend. It’s the only shop with the “Wand Chooses The Wizard” interactive show, where a Hogwarts student is selected from the audience for the wand-choosing ceremony.

Hogsmeade has two outdoor shows performed at the stage in front of Hogwarts Castle:
- The Frog Choir: A chorus of Hogwarts students backed by toads on cushions.
- The Triwizard Spirit Rally: Durmstrang and Beauxbatons performers from Goblet of Fire.
Both run on rotating schedules. Check the Universal Orlando app for showtimes.

When it comes to food and drink, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade both serve British cuisine, while the Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe offers French. Personally I’d eat at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade over Diagon Alley. It’s got a fantastic outdoor seating area at the back with a great view of Hogwarts Castle.
Hidden interactions in Hogsmeade:
- “The Wand Chooses The Wizard” interactive show at Ollivanders
- The bridge in front of Hogwarts Castle for the most iconic Hogsmeade photo
- Singing toads on the Frog Choir bench
- Interactive wand spells at medallion spots around the village
- Honeydukes window displays of moving sweets

Epic Universe: Ministry of Magic
🎢 Rides: Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry
🎙️ Shows: Le Cirque Arcanus
🍽️ Restaurants: Café L’Air De La Sirène, Le Gobelet Noir & Bar Moonshine
🍔 Food Stores & Carts: Bièraubeurre Cart (Butterbeer) & Ministry Munchies (inside the Battle at the Ministry queue)
🛍️ Stores: Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique & Les Galeries Mirifiques
Universal’s Epic Universe theme park, which opened on 22 May 2025, is home to the third Wizarding World of Harry Potter land: Ministry of Magic. The land covers two cities:
- Paris: Both Muggle Paris & Wizarding Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films
- London: Specifically, the British Ministry of Magic, from Harry Potter
Like all lands at Epic Universe, you’ll enter The Ministry of Magic through a portal, beginning in 1920s Muggle Paris and passing through the Phoenix Arch into Place Cachée in Wizarding Paris.
This area is dedicated to the Fantastic Beasts films, the first Wizarding World to feature them.

The biggest drawback I have to Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade is how small they are. During busy times the crowds can feel overwhelming. The Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe is significantly bigger, with streets and attractions built to scale.
Universal says the shortest building in the Ministry of Magic is taller than the tallest building in Diagon Alley.

The only ride in this Wizarding World is Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry.
The story of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry takes place on the day of Dolores Umbridge’s trial for her crimes against the Wizarding World.

The ride combines a Wizengamot courtroom pre-show with omnidirectional trackless dark-ride vehicles and screen-based motion-simulation set pieces. Expect some motion sickness on the wilder turns, but nothing close to the more severe rides at the resort.

The queue is part of the ride. You walk out of the Place Cachée cobblestone plaza, down through an Art Nouveau Métroflou station, past the Ministry Munchies in-queue snack counter, through the Floo Network tunnel, and finally onto deep tufted-leather Chesterfield benches in the Wizengamot courtroom. The theming is by far the best in the park, and almost so good, it’s unfathomable.

Single Rider and Ministry Viewing (walk-through-only access to the pre-show without the ride) are both available from the standby entrance. If motion-sim isn’t your thing, Ministry Viewing is the best way to see the Wizengamot courtroom theming without committing to the ride.

Cosme Acajor is the wand shop inside Place Cachée and the equivalent of Ollivanders at Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

The shop carries ten exclusive wand designs created by the fictional wandmaker Cosme Acajor herself. Each is named for the wood used:
- Oak
- Willow
- Fir
- Vine
- Holly
- Dogwood
- Reed
- Ivy
- Rosewood
- Acacia
Each wand costs $65 in 2026, before tax.
The interactive wand experience at Place Cachée works the same way as the spells at Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

Around the streets of Place Cachée, look for live magical-creature interactions including Niffler, Bowtruckle, and Demiguise animatronics tucked into shopfront windows and corners. They reward a slow walk and a good eye.
Le Cirque Arcanus is the live theatre show in Place Cachée, inspired by the Fantastic Beasts films. It uses live performers, puppetry, magical creatures, and special effects, with Eddie Redmayne appearing in newly filmed scenes as Newt Scamander. Check the Universal Orlando app for showtimes and arrive 15 to 20 minutes ahead for the best seats.
Three dining options serve the Ministry of Magic:
- Café L’Air De La Sirène, the sit-down French bistro with chandeliers, marble floors, and a mirror-and-brass Butterbeer counter. Plats du Jour, sandwiches, and desserts.
- Le Gobelet Noir, quick-service French fare in a smaller plaza-side venue.
- Bar Moonshine, a speakeasy-style cocktail bar that is genuinely easy to walk past. Look for the discreet entrance off Place Cachée if you’re after a wizarding cocktail.

Personally I’d eat at Café L’Air De La Sirène for the chandeliers and marble interior.
Plus two outdoor carts:
- The Bièraubeurre Cart sits at the entrance to Battle at the Ministry, named after the French translation of Butterbeer to fit the Parisian setting.
- Ministry Munchies is in-queue at Battle at the Ministry, mid-way down.
Hidden interactions in Place Cachée:
- Niffler, Bowtruckle, and Demiguise animatronics tucked into shopfront windows and corners
- The Phoenix Arch entrance, a multi-sensory transition from 1920s Muggle Paris into Wizarding Paris
- Mafalda Alba’s Maison de Portkey shop facade, with French Portkey destination posters in the windows
- Interactive wand spells at medallion spots around Place Cachée

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the questions readers ask me most often about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter across all three Universal Orlando parks.
Where is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando?
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is spread across all three Universal Orlando theme parks. Diagon Alley is in Universal Studios Florida, Hogsmeade is in Islands of Adventure, and Ministry of Magic in Place Cachee is in Epic Universe, which opened on 22 May 2025. The Hogwarts Express links Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, but not Epic Universe.
How many Harry Potter rides are at Universal Orlando?
There are six Wizarding World rides at Universal Orlando. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and the Hogwarts Express sit in Diagon Alley, Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, and Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure sit in Hogsmeade, and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry is the headliner inside Epic Universe.
Can you visit all three Wizarding Worlds in one day?
Yes, but it is a long day. With a park-to-park ticket, an early start, and a plan to skip queues using Express Pass or single rider where available, all three Wizarding Worlds are reachable in one visit. I would still recommend two days if you want to slow down for shopping, Butterbeer, and the interactive wand spell locations.
What is the difference between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade?
Diagon Alley has more shops and a denser feel, with the dragon atop Gringotts breathing fire roughly every ten minutes. Hogsmeade has the castle exterior of Hogwarts, more outdoor seating, and an extra Butterbeer cart. Diagon Alley’s only sit-down restaurant is the Leaky Cauldron, while Hogsmeade’s is the Three Broomsticks.
