Taking Kids Under 3 to Walt Disney World
Children under 3 years old can visit Walt Disney World for free. They do not need a park ticket or any form of park admission.
This also applies to Disney Dining. If the adult(s) the child is travelling with has Disney Dining, the child under three will dine for free.
I took my son Oliver to Walt Disney World several times before he turned three. Since tickets typically start from $109 per day, the savings can be huge. However, remember that entry for under threes is free for a reason.
Going On Rides With Babies & Toddlers
While Walt Disney World is a family theme park, many rides inside the parks are still height-limit. As such, your baby or toddler will likely be unable to ride on several rides and attractions.
In this case, you have two options:
- You can go on the ride using ChildSwap
- You can skip the ride
I’ve chosen both options in the past, depending on who I’m travelling with and how much I want to go on the ride.
Visiting Walt Disney World With Babies & Toddlers
People online say to skip Walt Disney World with children under three and instead wait until your kids are older. However, I disagree. It’s brought me incredible joy to take my son to Walt Disney World as a baby and toddler.
That being said, there is an optimal time to take advantage of kids under three visiting for free. Unsurprisingly, that’s between the ages of two and three.
When a child reaches two years old, they’ll typically be more aware of what’s happening and tall enough to go on more rides.
Therefore, if you want to visit Walt Disney World only once with your toddler, I recommend when they are between 2 and 3 years old.
Typically, you don’t need to bring a birth certificate or passport to prove your child is under three. However, if you’re taking a child over 2.5 years old, I recommend having a copy of ID just in case.
Baby Care Centers
Navigating the Walt Disney World parks with babies and toddlers can be stressful. However, each park has a Baby Care Center. This is the perfect place to escape the heat, change diapers, breastfeed, etc.
The Baby Care Centers also sell selected baby and toddler supplies. However, the range of supplies is limited, so I’d only count on this for emergencies.
Using & Renting Strollers
You are permitted to bring a stroller to Walt Disney World. Since you’ll often walk over 10,000 steps per day, even if your toddler can walk unaided for long distances, I’d still recommend bringing one.
To bring a stroller (pushchair) to Walt Disney World, it must meet the following:
- Be no larger than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long.
- Wagons and stroller wagons are not permitted.
If you don’t have a stroller for your toddler, you can hire one. Several stroller rental companies are available in Orlando. Alternatively, you can rent a stroller at any Walt Disney World theme park.
Single Stroller: Recommended for children 50 lbs. or less.
- Daily: $15
- Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $13
Double Stroller: Recommended for children 100 lbs. or less.
- Daily: $31
- Multi-Day (Length of Stay): $27
These strollers are made of hard plastic. As such, they are only suitable for small children, not babies. No strollers suitable for babies are available to rent at Walt Disney World.
