Are the Disneyland Paris Meal Plans Worth It?
If you’re staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel, you can also book a Disneyland Paris Meal Plan. But is it worth it?
The Disneyland Paris meal plan is worth it. However, I’d only recommend half board, and I only recommend buying it if you can afford it.
The meal plan is a great way to enhance your visit. That being said, if you’re travelling to Disneyland Paris on a budget you may find it better value to buy food as you go.
Disneyland Paris Meal Plan Range
The Disneyland Paris meal plan range is unnecessarily complex. There are four options available:
- Standard
- Plus
- Premium (exclusively available for Disneyland Hotel guests)
- Extra Plus (currently unavailable)
All meal plans are then available as either half-board or full-board.
You can also book breakfast only. This isn’t advertised on the Disneyland Paris meal plan page. However, it is available when booking your Disneyland Paris holiday.
Half Board or Full Board?
Each Disneyland Paris meal plan is available in either half-board or full-board format.
Half Board: Breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner.
Full Board: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
In my experience, full board is too much, especially with an all-you-can-eat breakfast. Instead, I recommend half board and doing breakfast and dinner.
How Much Does a Disneyland Paris Meal Plan Cost?
The cost of a Disneyland Paris meal plan depends on three things:
- The plan range (standard, plus, premium, extra plus)
- The board (breakfast, half board or full board)
- The age of the guests
I’ve screenshot the prices of each meal plan below (April 2024) for you to compare.
Standard Meal Plan
Plus Meal Plan
Premium Meal Plan
The meal plan you book is representative of your hotel. Budget hotels are only given the ‘standard meal plan’ to choose from, and mid-range hotels the ‘plus meal plan’. Again, the ‘premium meal plan’ is exclusive to Disneyland Hotel guests only.
The Disneyland Paris Meal Plan Is Worth It If…
I have visited Disneyland Paris numerous times. I’ve been with and without kids. I’ve also been with and without meal plans, and in my experience, the meal plan is worth it if:
Fussy Eaters
The Disneyland Paris meal plan offers up to 35 restaurants (or 39 on the premium meal plan), many of which are buffets. The buffets are an excellent choice for fussy eaters and prevents you from spending money on several meals.
Large Portions
The portion sizes at Disneyland Paris are very different from those at Walt Disney World. As such, if you’re looking for large portions, you may benefit from the all-you-can-eat buffets.
Toddlers
Children under three can eat off your plate. As such, if you have a toddler between 18 months and 35 months, the meal plan can be excellent value for money.
The Disneyland Paris Meal Plan Isn’t Worth It If…
I have visited Disneyland Paris numerous times. I’ve been with and without kids. I’ve also been with and without meal plans, and in my experience, the meal plan isn’t worth it if:
Character Meals
Only the ‘premium meal plan’ includes character dining at Disneyland Paris. Otherwise, if you would like to dine with characters, you must book and pay for these restaurants separately.
Budget
If you’re travelling to Disneyland Paris on a budget, the meal plan is not worth it.
You only have the option to book a meal plan by staying onsite, which is already more expensive than staying in a nearby hotel. Plus, the cost is more than you would likely spend on food otherwise.
Meal Plan Exclusions
Before booking a Disneyland Paris meal plan, there are a couple of final things you should know.
- Meal Plan vouchers can not be used in McDonald’s, Rainforest Cafe, Starbucks, Earl of Sandwich, Five Guys, Vapiano, The Royal Pub, or Rosalie.
- Table service meals include a starter, main course, and dessert (a soft drink is also included in the children’s menu). Adults must buy drinks with table service meals.
- The all-you-can-eat buffet meals include soft drinks.
