There is free WiFi across the entire Universal Orlando Resort. That includes every theme park (including Epic Universe), Volcano Bay, CityWalk, and every on-site hotel.
This guide covers how to connect to the WiFi, where it works well, the hotel WiFi tier upgrades and how to fix a dropped connection.
How the WiFi at Universal Orlando Works
Free WiFi is available across the Universal Orlando Resort. This includes:
- All three theme parks
- Universal Volcano Bay
- CityWalk
- All Universal Orlando on-site hotels (with a paid upgrade option)
To connect to the WiFi at Universal Orlando:
- Open your device’s WiFi settings.
- Select the network called Universal.
- Open any browser.
- Enter your email address and agree to the terms.
You’ll then be connected to the WiFi, which carries across the entire resort. You won’t need to re-login when moving from an on-site hotel to the theme parks.
The Universal Orlando mobile app pairs well with the free WiFi. It caches wait times, map data, and mobile ordering menus once you’ve opened them, so any brief signal drops in queues don’t kill the experience.

Universal Hotel WiFi Tiers (Premium vs Premium Plus)
If you’re staying on-site at Universal Orlando there are two WiFi packages you can choose from:
- Premium WiFi: Free for up to 4 devices per room. Included with every Universal on-site hotel stay. Good enough for streaming, video calls, and normal browsing.
- Premium Plus WiFi: $9.95 per 24-hour period, up to 8 devices. Faster tier available at most Universal hotels. Worth it if you’re travelling for work or doing data heavy tasks. This can cost more than $9.95 at selected value hotels, Xfinity Internet or Xfinity On Demand customers get this WiFi free.

Speed, Dead Zones, and When to Use Mobile Data
Universal’s WiFi can typically handle data-intensive tasks such as streaming, FaceTime, uploading videos to Instagram or TikTok.
However, you may find you struggle with signal when you’re in a large crowd. I find it can happen around Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, as well as during the wait for Halloween Horror Nights. If you experience this you may want to drop back to mobile data.
When Epic Universe opened in May 2025, the park featured a new infrastructure that handles crowds much better than the old network at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
On my press-trip to Epic Universe with the Universal PR team in May 2026 I was pulling reliable download speeds (in the tens of Mbps) at Celestial Park, Bar Helios in Helios Grand Hotel. Cosme Acajor had the best speeds while some the interior queue rooms, especially in the Ministry of Magic and Dark Universe had the slowest.
If like me you’re travelling from the UK then be sure to check your network’s roaming policy before relying on mobile data. Data roaming without a plan can be expensive if you’re not careful.
Troubleshooting a Dropped Universal WiFi Connection
If your device won’t reconnect to Universal WiFi after moving between areas, three fixes handle most cases:
- Forget the network in your device’s WiFi settings, then re-connect. The captive portal will reload and you’ll re-authenticate cleanly.
- Toggle Airplane Mode on and off. Fastest fix in a queue. Forces the device to re-scan the network and re-hit the captive portal.
- Restart the Universal Orlando app. Sometimes it’s the app’s cached WiFi session that’s dropped, not the underlying connection.
If none of the three fix it, walk 30 metres in any direction and try again. Universal’s WiFi is served by many separate access points and moving one AP over usually restores signal instantly.
