Does Universal Studios Orlando Have WiFi?

WiFi is a fantastic way to stay connected without having to rely on a cell network.

Thankfully, Universal offers complimentary WiFi to all guests throughout the resort. This includes; Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay as well as at all of the on-site hotels.

The WiFi network is called “UNIVERSAL” and is accessible in all rooms, lobby areas, main walkways, ride queues, and pool areas.

Is There Free WiFi at the Universal Orlando Theme Parks?

Free Universal WiFi is available at both theme parks; Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

The WiFi will show as “UNIVERSAL” and can be connected to from any WiFi-enabled device.

WiFi speeds within Universal will vary depending on the area you’re in and the number of guests connected to the network at any one time.

However, we’ve never struggled to check emails, text friends and family, watch Youtube videos (while in line of course) or post to Instagram while inside the park.

Is There Free WiFi at Volcano Bay?

Free WiFi is also available throughout Universal’s Volcano Bay water park.

However, much like at the Universal theme parks, you may find that WiFi speeds are slower / faster in certain areas of the park, especially during peak times.

Is There Free WiFi at the Universal Orlando Hotels?

All of the on-site hotels at Universal Orlando offer complimentary Wi-Fi for guests in the; hotel lobby, pool area and inside all guest rooms.

To connect to a hotel network simply set the WiFi network connection to the hotel and then enter your room number and last name in the pop-up box.

Again, the WiFi connection at the hotel is available for all WiFi-enabled devices. However, the WiFi speed and coverage may vary in select locations.

How to Connect to the WiFi at the Universal Orlando Resort?

Connecting to the Universal Orlando Resort’s free WiFi network is simple and straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Turn on your mobile device and navigate to the WiFi settings.
  2. Select the network “Universal Studios Guest” or “Universal Partner Guest.”
  3. Once connected, open your web browser.
  4. You’ll be redirected to the Universal Orlando WiFi log in page.
  5. Enter your email address and click “Connect.”
  6. You’ll be redirected to a page where you can choose to receive updates on special offers and events.
  7. Click “Continue,” and you’re all set!

It’s important to note that the WiFi network is designed for basic use, such as checking emails and browsing the web. If you need high-speed Wi-Fi for activities like streaming movies or playing online games, you may want to consider upgrading to premium.

Can You Watch YouTube, Netflix, etc., with Universal Orlando WiFi?

Universal’s free Wi-Fi is designed for basic internet activity such as checking emails, browsing social media accounts etc.

The network is not designed for high-speed data usage, and subsequently, you may experience slow download speeds or buffering.

That being said, we had no trouble Facetiming friends and family back home using the Universal WiFi network. Nor did we experience any buffering when watching YouTube or Netflix in our hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel during one of our most recent visits.

However, this is likely based on luck and down to our room position and the number of people connected to the internet at the same time.

If you do plan to use the internet a lot while at the Universal Orlando Resort, then it may be worth upgrading to a premium WiFi package.

Upgrading To Premium WiFi At Universal Orlando

If you’re looking for faster internet speeds or more reliable connectivity then you might want to consider upgrading to the premium WiFi network which is available at selected on-site hotels.

Free Upgrades For Xfinity Internet Customers

There are a select number of high-speed WiFi hotspots throughout the Universal Orlando Resort which are operated by Xfinity Internet.

If you are an Xfinity customer, you can easily connect to an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot using your username and password.

Xfinity On Demand Pass

If you are not an Xfinity customer but would like to use the Xfinity hot spots found throughout Universal then you’ll need to purchase an Xfinity WiFi On Demand pass.

These passes can be purchased online or through the Xfinity WiFi app, available on the App Store and Google Play.

Paying For A WiFi Upgrade

If you’re not an Xfinity Internet customer and staying on-site in one of Universal’s hotels then one of the best ways to get the premium WiFi service at Universal is to pay for it.

Premium WiFi costs $14.95 per day and is suitable for up to 8 devices.

You can purchase premium WiFi at any eligible hotel by selecting the ‘Premium Network’ service before you go ahead and enter your room and last name details required for the complimentary WiFi.

The Official Universal Orlando Resort App

One of the best use cases for Universal’s free internet access is downloading and using the official Universal Orlando mobile app.

The app is available for both iOS (in the Apple App Store) and Android devices (in the Google Play Store) and can enhance your visit to the Universal Orlando Resort in a variety of different ways.

Some of the main features of the Universal Orlando mobile app include;

  • Check ride wait times
  • Buy park tickets
  • See the interactive park map
  • Order food and drink
  • Check show times
  • Check park hours
  • Set a parking reminder
  • Buy Universal Express passes
  • Check ride height requirements
  • Chat with a Universal team member
  • Check annual pass blackout dates

When we visit Universal Orlando we predominantly use the mobile app to place a mobile food or drink order at participating restaurants to save us from waiting in line and to check the wait times for various rides while inside the park.

That way if Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure inside Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter has an epic wait time of under one hour we’re able to run there instead of maybe boarding to Hogwarts Express to the other park or going on The Incredible Hulk Coaster for example.

However, that’s because we’re annual pass holders at Universal Orlando and subsequently don’t need to purchase tickets or need directions navigating around the park.

That being said, if it is your first time visiting Universal Orlando (or a really long time since your last visit) then the GPS-enabled maps of each park are going to be essential to helping you get around.

The map allows you to select the park or location you’re visiting;

  • Universal Studios Florida
  • Universal’s Islands of Adventure
  • Universal’s Volcano Bay
  • Universal CityWalk

From there you’re able to see all of the rides, attractions, restaurants and facilities at each location.

The map will even tell you the walking distance from your current location (provided location access is turned on) and the ride / attraction you’re looking at so you know whether it’s something you want to walk straight to, or visit later on during the day.
