Universal Orlando only uses fireworks in the new CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular show.
CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular takes place on the lagoon at Universal Studios Florida. This show replaced Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration and features:
- Fireworks
- Drone Display
- Music
- Lights
- Dancing Water Fountains
However, CineSational is not available year-round. Instead, shows are halted for special events such as Halloween Horror Nights. Therefore, checking the event dates online is essential to avoid disappointment.
Unlike Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando uses minimal fireworks. That’s because Universal is within Orlando’s zoning laws, which restrict the size, reach, and volume of pyrotechnics.
CineSational at Universal Studios Florida
CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular is the nighttime lagoon show at Universal Studios Florida. It brings together fireworks, water screens, floating set pieces and an orchestral score built from Universal film music. The show runs on selected nights, mostly through the busier and summer seasons, so check the current calendar on the official Universal Orlando show page before you build your evening around it.
Universal Celestial Goodnight at Epic Universe
Epic Universe now has its first nightly fireworks show, Universal Celestial Goodnight, which debuted in July 2026. It closes the park each evening with fireworks, projections and a musical score staged over Celestial Park, the central land of the resort’s newest gate. Show times move with the park closing hour across the year, so check the official Universal Orlando app on the day of your visit for the exact start time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Universal Orlando’s evening fireworks and projection show, CineSational, are below.
Does Universal Orlando have a fireworks show?
Yes, the primary fireworks show is CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular on the lagoon at Universal Studios Florida. The 22-minute show combines 600+ drones, 228 fountains, projection mapping, music, and pyrotechnics, and replaced Universal’s Cinematic Celebration in summer 2024.
What time is CineSational at Universal Orlando?
CineSational typically runs at or near park close, most often 9pm or 10pm depending on the date. Always check the Universal Orlando app the day of your visit, since showtimes shift with seasonal park hours.
Where is the best place to watch CineSational?
Central Park, between the Hollywood area and the lagoon, is the dedicated viewing zone with the best angle on drones, fountains, and projections. Avoid watching from the Springfield or Men in Black side, because the projection screens block much of the show.
Does CineSational run every night?
No, CineSational runs most nights during summer, holidays, and other peak seasons but skips Halloween Horror Nights dates (HHN 2026 runs 28 August to 1 November) and some quieter weeks. Check the calendar before booking a late park day.
Does Epic Universe have a fireworks show?
Epic Universe does not have a regular nightly fireworks show, instead relying on fountains and lighting in Celestial Park for evening atmosphere. The park did host a one-off Fourth of July fireworks display in 2025, though 2026 plans were not confirmed at the time of my visit.
