How Much Is An Uber From LAX To Disneyland?

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located 33.9 miles (54.5 km) from Disneyland, which is located to the southeast in Anaheim, California.

Although it’s not a long distance, the heavy traffic in Southern California can easily mean this journey takes longer than an hour.

If you’re not hiring a car then the best option for getting from LAX to Disneyland is in an Uber or Lyft. An Uber from LAX to Disneyland typically costs $50 and $55 one-way.

However, since both rideshare platforms work on a dynamic pricing model the price you pay may be higher depending on the traffic and subsequently the total journey time.

Standard UberX and Lyft vehicles can accommodate up to four passengers and roughly one to two suitcases. For those with more luggage or up to six passengers larger vehicles are available (UberXL or LyftXL) which cost roughly an extra 10% to 20%/

How Much Is An Uber From LAX To Disneyland?

An Uber from LAX to Disneyland typically costs between $50 and $55. However, since Uber uses a dynamic pricing model, rates can fluctuate depending on a variety of factors including the time of day and demand.

When demand is high, such as during rush hour, “surge pricing” may take effect, which means that rates are higher.

Given the volume of passengers at LAX, standard Uber vehicles are only able to collect passengers from LAX-IT which is located in a large open parking lot away from the terminal buildings.

To get from an LAX terminal to LAX-IT you can either take the free shuttle bus or walk. Depending on your terminal and how busy LAX is at the time, the shuttle can take up to 20 minutes. In which case it’s often easier to walk if you are able.

LAX-IT is well-signposted outside of the terminals and along One World Way.

Alternatively, premium Uber services such as Uber Black and Uber LUX are able to pick you up from directly outside of your selected terminal. However, these services are usually triple the cost of a standard UberX vehicle.

Standard UberX seats up to four passengers, so if you have a larger group than that, you will need to select an UberXL instead. An UberXL costs on average $75 to $80 to get from LAX to Disneyland.

Much like the standard UberX vehicles, UberXL is only able to collect passengers from the LAX-IT pick-up location. If you would like to be collected from outside of the LAX terminal instead then you will need to select the Black SUV which is able to accommodate up to six passengers.

Much like a standard UberX vehicle, the Black SUV cars are roughly three times the cost of standard UberXL vehicles.

How Much Is A Lyft From LAX To Disneyland?

Another popular rideshare alternative to Uber when travelling from Los Angeles Airport to Disneyland is Lyft.

The average cost of a Lyft from LAX to Disneyland is similar to the cost of an Uber. However, since Lyft also uses a dynamic pricing model you may find that this service is cheaper or more expensive than Uber at the time of booking your journey.

As such I highly recommend downloading and setting up both the Uber app and the Lyft app and comparing the prices of both applications in real-time during your travel to save.

Much like Uber, standard Lyft vehicles are only able to collect passengers from LAX-IT which is located in a large open parking lot away from the terminal buildings.

Alternatively, premium Lyft services such as Lux and Lux Black are able to complete curbside pick-up directly outside of the LAX terminal.

Lyft’s premium services (Lux and Lux Black) are approximately three times the cost of a standard Lyft and therefore not suitable for those travelling to Disneyland on a budget.

Standard Lyft vehicles seat up to four passengers, so if you have a larger group than that, you will need to select a LyftXL instead. A LyftXL from LAX to Disneyland costs $75 to $80 on average.

Much like the standard Lyft vehicles, LyftXL is only able to collect passengers from the LAX-IT pick-up location. If you would like to be collected from outside of the LAX terminal instead then you will need to select the Lux Black XL which is able to accommodate up to six passengers.

Much like a standard Lyft vehicle, the Lux Black XL cars are roughly three times the cost of standard Lyft XL vehicles.

Travelling With Children Requiring A Car Seat In Ubers, Lyfts & Taxis

Rideshare services and taxis in California do not provide children’s car seats.

Yet in accordance with California State Law, children must be seated in the rear seat of a vehicle in an appropriate car seat or booster seat until they are 8 years old or 4’9″ tall.

Meanwhile, children must remain in a rear-facing car seat until they weigh 40 pounds or more or are at least 40 inches tall.

Drivers in California will refuse to accept your ride if you’re travelling with children and are unable to provide a car seat for them that meets the state law.

As a result, families with children travelling from LAX to Disneyland will either want to;

  • Bring a car seat
  • Get a rental car with a car seat included
  • Use public transport

In our case, when travelling with our toddler I brought our own car portable car seat.

Typically, car seats for older children (5+) are significantly smaller and more compact making them easier to travel with, while babies (under 2) require larger and heavier car seats which can be difficult to travel with.

How Much Is A Shuttle From LAX To Disneyland?

Another way to get from LAX to Disneyland is by airport shuttle.

Shuttles can pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the theme parks at nearby hotels including Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel (formerly Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel).

Karmel shuttle is the most popular shuttle service for getting to Disneyland from the airport. Their shuttle buses can accommodate up to nine passengers, making it a good option depending on the size of your party.

For nine passengers, the cost of a shuttle would be around $225, or $25 per person.

However, if you book a shuttle for just one person or for a couple, the price is around $125.

Because of this, booking an airport shuttle is one of the best travel options for large groups depending on the number of people you have, but it’s not as economical for smaller parties.

Meanwhile, for smaller groups, you’re still better off with an Uber ride or Lyft ride.

When booking an airport shuttle, you do need to make reservations in advance as opposed to being able to call an Uber or Lyft at any time. For airport shuttles, the company you book with will provide instructions about where to meet.

Can You Take A Taxi From LAX To Disneyland?

Before rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft were invented, traditional taxi services were a common way to get from Los Angeles International Airport to Disneyland.

You can still take a traditional taxi from the airport to Disneyland, however, it’s not the most affordable option and therefore not recommended.

A taxi from LAX to Disneyland costs around $100 and standard taxi seats up to four passengers.

Since Uber and Lyft both offer comparable alternatives at often a cheaper price, it’s typically a better idea to use a rideshare service instead of a taxi.

If you do want to take a taxi, I would recommend making an advanced reservation with one of the Los Angeles taxi companies.

Is There Public Transport Between LAX & Disneyland?

Taking public transportation from LAX to Disneyland is not recommended for most travellers. While theoretically, it is the cheapest way to get from the airport to Disneyland, it takes the longest amount of time and isn’t a direct journey.

While taking an Uber, Lyft, shuttle, or taxi will take you 35 minutes to an hour depending on traffic, taking public transit from LAX to Disneyland will take over 2.5 hours.

First, you’ll need to take the free shuttle from the airport terminal to Aviation/LAX Station outside the airport.

Then you’ll take the Metro C Line (Green) towards Norwalk Station. At Norwalk Station, exit the train and transfer to the 460 bus, which drops off right outside Disneyland Park.

This is the most affordable way to get from LAX to Disneyland since the entire journey will only cost you $1.75 for the train ticket (which includes a free transfer pass for the bus.)

If you have a lot of luggage with you or are travelling with small children, taking public transportation is probably not a good idea since it takes 2.5 hours and involves several transfers. But if you don’t mind the extra time and want to save money, it is an option.
