How To Stay Cool When Wearing A Harry Potter Robe At Universal

Wearing a Harry Potter robe can be a fun way to immerse yourself in the magic of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when visiting Universal Studios.

However, if you’re visiting the park during the summer months then wearing a heavy Harry Potter robe can be uncomfortable (or even unbearable) for long periods of time.

Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can keep cool while wearing a Harry Potter robe inside the park.

1. Stay Hydrated

Whether you’re wearing a Harry Potter robe or not, staying hydrated is crucial to avoiding heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to the park with you and drinking at least 8 ounces of water every hour.

Water bottles can be refilled for free at Starbucks, Coca-Cola Freestyle machines and at selected quick-service outlets within the park. Alternatively, bottled water can be purchased for around $4.50.

2. Dress Appropriately

The clothing or more specifically fabric of clothing you wear under your Harry Potter robe can have a big impact on how cool and comfortable you feel.

Lightweight, breathable materials like cotton are best, as they allow air to circulate and wick away moisture. Avoid heavy or synthetic fabrics like polyester, which trap heat and moisture and can make you feel hot and sticky.

3. Stay In The Shade

Universal Studios has many shaded areas, shops, and restaurants that are perfect for a respite from the heat. When you’re feeling overheated, head to one of these air-conditioned locations to take a break and cool off.

4. Avoid Late Morning & Early Afternoon

The sun is typically the hottest between the hours of 11am and 2pm.

We, therefore, do not recommend wearing your Harry Potter robe during these hours and instead wearing it early morning or late afternoon.

5. Use Cooling Products

There are a variety of cooling products available that can help regulate your body temperature, such as neckbands that you soak in water, evaporative cooling bandanas, and wristbands that cool as you wear them.

These products can be worn under your Harry Potter robe and help you feel cooler and more comfortable in hot weather.

6. Take Your Robe Off

The vast majority of guests visiting Universal Studios don’t wear their robes all day so don’t be afraid of taking the robe off and either carrying it or storing it in a locker.

Remember, you can always put your robe back on later in the day once it gets a little cooler – it’s certainly not worth overheating and potentially passing out for.
