5 Epic Things to Do With Kids at CityWalk, Universal Orlando

CityWalk is a free-to-enter entertainment district at the Universal Orlando Resort. If you’re travelling with kids, then this is the perfect place for:

  1. Evening entertainment
  2. Delicious food
  3. Fantastic souvenirs

I spend at least one evening at CityWalk whenever I visit the Universal Orlando Resort. When visiting with my son Oliver, these are our favourite things to do:

1. Play Mini Golf at Hollywood Drive-In Golf

Hollywood Drive-In Golf is a unique miniature golf experience. It combines the glamour of Hollywood with the thrills of the big screen. With two state-of-the-art 18-hole courses, Hollywood Drive-In Golf is perfect for evening entertainment.

There are two 18-hole golf courses available here:

  1. The Haunting of Ghostly Greens
  2. Invaders from Planet Putt

A single feature (18 holes) costs:

  • $21.99 for adults (10+)
  • $19.99 for children (3 – 9)

A double feature (36 holes) costs:

  • $39.98 for adults (10+)
  • $35.98 for adults (3 – 9)

In my experience, each 18-hole course takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. However, wait times can be higher depending on the number of players at that time. As a result, most kids are done after 18 holes.

2. Watch Films at Universal Cinemark

Universal CityWalk is home to an incredible state-of-the-art movie theatre. Making it the perfect place to immerse yourself in the latest blockbuster. This Cinemark movie theatre has 20 screens, each with:

  • Wall-to-wall projection
  • Custom-engineered surround sound system
  • A state-of-the-art projector that’s capable of displaying 35 trillion colours

Showtimes start at 11:00 am daily. So whether you’re escaping a rainy day or need evening entertainment, you’re covered.

3. Universal’s Great Movie Escape

If you’re visiting CityWalk with older kids, check out Universal’s Great Movie Escape. This new CityWalk attraction features several escape rooms inspired by classic Universal Films. Guests have two different escape rooms to choose from:

  1. Jurassic World: Escape
  2. Back to the Future: OUTATIME

Universal’s Great Movie Escape tickets cost $49.99 per person, plus tax. However, tickets also include complimentary self-parking at Universal Orlando’s car park.

4. Dine at a Delicious Restaurant

CityWalk at Universal Orlando offers a variety of dining options to suit every taste. Some of my favourite family-favourite spots include:

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is the best place to eat with kids at CityWalk.

This unique restaurant with a steampunk vibe offers an incredible array of desserts. But don’t be fooled by the name as Toothsome Chocolate Emporium also offers a full menu of gourmet dishes, including:

  • Steak
  • Seafood
  • Pasta

Since Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen is the best place to eat at CityWak, it’s also the busiest. As such, I recommend reserving a table here if you want to eat dinner here.

Hard Rock Cafe

Universal Orlando is home to the largest Hard Rock Cafe in the world. The exterior is designed to reflect the Roman Coliseum. While inside reflects the same grandeur.

Set across two floors, this restaurant is filled with some of the best musical memorabilia in the world. Meanwhile, the extensive range of American dishes is sure to suit even the pickiest of eaters.

Hot Dog Hall of Fame

If you’re after an affordable, kid-friendly meal at CityWalk, check out the Hot Dog Hall of Fame.

This unique restaurant offers various styles of hot dogs from around the United States. From a classic New York dog to the bold Chicago style, you’re sure to find a hot dog to suit your taste.

VooDoo Donuts

If you’re looking for a delicious dessert at CityWalk, stop at VooDoo Donuts. This infamous donut store offers various creative and delicious donuts that will no doubt impress.

Given VooDoo Donuts popularity, the line is regularly out the door. However, you can reserve your donuts on the mobile app and collect them from the booth across from the store.

5. Go Shopping

CityWalk is one of the best places to buy Universal souvenirs. Some of my favourite places at CityWalk include:

Universal Studios Store

The Universal Studios Store is an 8,300 sq ft. of Universal souvenirs and collectables. Here, you’ll find items from your favourite Universal movies and attractions, including:

  • Harry Potter
  • Jurassic Park

Universal Legacy Store

If you’re a classic Universal movie fan, check out the Universal Legacy Store. This store will transport you to a bygone era of iconic films and theme park history.
