Can You Ride The Hogwarts Express With A Single Park Ticket?

The Hogwarts Express is one of the highlights of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter experience, offering visitors a magical journey from Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley and vice versa.

However, you can not ride the Hogwarts Express with a single-park ticket and instead will need a park-to-park ticket. That’s because the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley) is located across the two different theme parks.

At the entrance of the ride (both at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure) staff members will scan your park ticket to ensure that you have park-to-park access before allowing you to enter the ride’s queue and subsequently see and board the Hogwarts Express.

If you already have a single park ticket and would like to upgrade to a park-to-park ticket to experience the Hogwarts Express then you can do so for an additional cost.

The exact cost of upgrading depends on a number of different factors including; what ticket you currently have, the number of days on your park ticket and the time of year.

Ticket upgrades can be done in advance, by calling Universal or in person either at the resort or at the theme park.

Personally, we recommend doing it in advance wherever possible so you’re able to maximise your time within the park.

Is Upgrading To A Park-To-Park Ticket For The Hogwarts Express Worth It?

Whether or not upgrading to a park-to-park ticket to experience the Hogwarts Express is worth it is a personal decision based on two key factors;

  • The cost of the upgrade
  • How much of a Harry Potter fan you are

If you’re a big Harry Potter fan then we’d recommend at least having a two-park ticket so you’re able to experience both areas of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure).

Upgrading from that ticket to a park-to-park ticket to ride the Hogwarts Express will cost circa $100 per ticket.

Personally, we don’t think the $100 per ticket cost is worth it just for the Hogwarts Express (even as Harry Potter fans).

Instead, we would only recommend upgrading to a park-to-park ticket if you believe you’ll benefit from the park-to-park experience (being able to go to both parks in a single day) as well as the Hogwarts Express.
