Can You Re-Enter Universal Studios Hollywood?

For several reasons, you may need to or want to leave Universal Studios Hollywood during your visit to return later on.

You can leave Universal Studios Hollywood and re-enter later that day. To do so you’ll need to obtain a stamp as you leave the park, and keep hold of your park ticket.

When you come back to re-enter the park you’ll need to have your park ticket scanned and then show your stamp (which can only be seen under a UV light).

Can You Leave & Re-Enter The Park On The Same Day With A Single-Day Ticket?

You can leave and re-enter the Universal Studios Hollywood park on the same day with a single-day ticket.

However, you’ll need to keep a hold of your park ticket and get a stamp as you leave the park (as of Feb ’23). You’ll also only be permitted to re-enter the park on the day on which you entered.

Do You Need A Ticket to Re-Enter Universal Studios Hollywood?

You will need a valid admission ticket to re-enter Universal Studios Hollywood. This applies to all types of tickets, including single-day tickets, multi-day tickets and, annual passes.

What If You Lose Your Park Ticket While Outside of the Park?

If you lose your Universal Studios Hollywood park ticket while you are outside of the park, then it’s unlikely you’ll be able to re-enter.

You may be able to get a replacement ticket, so I’d recommend visiting the Guest Services or Ticket Booth area at the park entrance and speaking with a staff member for assistance.

However, you may need to provide identification or other information to verify your ticket purchase.

Do I Need To Get My Hand Stamped Before Leaving The Park?

When I left the park in February 2023 on a single-day park ticket, I was asked to have a stamp as I left the park in order to re-enter later on in the day.

However, when I upgraded to an annual pass in March 2023, I didn’t need a stamp when leaving the park as I was able to re-enter with the annual pass.

Can You Bring Outside Food & Drinks Back Into The Park After Leaving?

You are permitted to bring bottled water and small snacks into Universal Studios Hollywood with you provided it meets the Universal Food & Drinks policy.

Food for medical purposes and medically-indicated nutritional supplements, any food required for special dietary needs and baby food / baby formula are permitted.

Is There A Limit To How Many Times You Can Leave & Re-Enter The Park?

There is no specific limit to the number of times you can leave and re-enter Universal Studios Hollywood on the same day.

However, keep in mind that if the park reaches capacity you will have to wait in line to re-enter.

Do You Need To Go Through Security Again When Re-Entering The Park?

You will need to go through security screening again when re-entering Universal Studios Hollywood.

All guests are subject to a security screening process before entering the park, which includes a bag check and metal detector screening.

The security area is at the entrance of Universal Studios Hollywood and is not required for Universal’s CityWalk.

How to Re-Enter Universal Studios Hollywood

If and when you decide to leave the park with the intention to return later in the day the park staff will apply a stamp to your hand. The stamp is invisible to the naked eye but can be seen under UV light.

When you arrive at the entrance turnstiles on your first visit to the park, the staff will check your admission tickets.

When the time comes to re-enter the park you will head to the security gates as usual, then through the turnstiles where a staff member will re-scan your ticket and check your hand stamp.

If you make a point of remembering which hand was stamped it will make the re-entry process even faster and easier.

Reasons for Leaving Universal Studios Hollywood

Some reasons you might want to or need to leave Universal Studios Hollywood during your visit include;

  • Illness
  • Get something from the car
  • Dine at CityWalk
  • Meet friends / family outside the park
  • Go back to your hotel
