We stayed at the CBeebies Land Hotel at Alton Towers at the start of the Easter holidays as a family of four: two adults, a four-year-old and an 18-month-old.
It was our first visit to Alton Towers as a family, and we booked one night, Sunday to Monday, in the Bluey Suite through Alton Towers’ Stay and Play promotion about six weeks in advance.
The CBeebies Land Hotel is specifically designed for families with young children. Every element of the hotel is built around the CBeebies world, and for children under six it delivers an experience that is difficult to match anywhere else in the UK.
Rooms
The hotel has 76 themed rooms and suites. Current room themes are:
| Theme | Room | Suite | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bugbies | Yes | No | Has the most rooms |
| Bing | Yes | No | |
| In the Night Garden | Yes | Yes | |
| Octonauts | Yes | No | |
| Something Special | Yes | Yes | |
| Swashbuckle | Yes | Yes | |
| Hey Duggee | Yes | Yes | New for 2026 |
| Bluey | Yes | Yes | Most popular |
Room themes change over time as new CBeebies characters are added. Prices vary depending on:
- Time of year
- Room or Suite
- Theming
As a rough guide, standard Bugbies rooms typically start from around £350 to £400 per night. More desirable themed rooms range from around £400 to £500 per night, and suites from around £500 to £600 per night.
| Standard Room | Suite | |
|---|---|---|
| Sleeps | Up to 5 | Up to 7 |
| Adult sleeping | Double bed | Double bed + sofa bed |
| Children’s sleeping | Bunk beds + trundle bed | Bunk beds + trundle bed |
| Kids’ area | Partitioned | Fully separate room |
All rooms come as standard with:
- Cot
- Baby bath
- Bottle warmer
- Children’s toilet seat
- Steps for the bathroom sink
- Entertainment wall with interactive play items
Dining
Breakfast is included in every booking and is served as a buffet in the Windmill Restaurant between 7:15am and 10am.
You’re supposed to book a time slot in advance using the link in your confirmation email. I never saw this and was never prompted during check-in to select a time. We went down for breakfast at 7:30am and had no issues getting seated. However, I also don’t know how close to capacity the hotel was.
The buffet includes:
- Cereals, toast and bread with jams and spreads
- Pastries and pancakes
- Fruit and yoghurt
- Cooked options including sausages, hash browns, beans and mushrooms
- Self-service tea and coffee
The quality of the breakfast buffet is good, but not exceptional – I’ve definitely had better. However, there’s more than enough variety to keep everyone fed and the CBeebies theming throughout the restaurant definitely helps keep the children entertained while you eat.
Dinner is available from:
- Windmill Restaurant: From 5pm
- Musical Meadow Café & Bar: From 4pm
Both use the same kitchen and therefore serve similar food options. However, the menu at the Windmill Restaurant is more extensive and includes a children’s section with an unlimited salad bar.
Again, the food here is good but not exceptional and comes at a premium price, which is consistent with on-site dining at Alton Towers generally.
Entertainment
The hotel entertainment programme runs from 3pm until 9pm.
- 3pm – 6pm: Character meet and greets, play areas and interactive activities
- 6pm – 9pm: Main entertainment including live shows and disco
While we did go to Alton Towers on the day of check-in, it was raining. The 2pm check-in that comes with a suite booking and the early start to the entertainment programme were both a welcome relief.
The entertainment is exclusive to hotel guests and is not available to day visitors. Coming out of the lift, we casually bumped into a character with no queue. Then later in the evening, both of our kids enjoyed the different shows and games.
The lobby area has a giant interactive storybook which was a huge hit. There’s also currently LEGO Bluey and Bingo statues as well as a small climbing tunnel into the on-site shop.
The entertainment wasn’t the reason we chose to stay at the CBeebies Land Hotel. However, it’s one of the biggest reasons we’d go back. Being able to keep the kids entertained in the time between leaving Alton Towers and going to bed with such ease is a huge win!

Is the CBeebies Land Hotel Worth It?
The CBeebies Land Hotel is expensive, but very much worth it.
You get highly detailed themed rooms, an exclusive evening entertainment programme, Express Parking, Extraordinary Golf and breakfast all included, alongside practical details for families with babies and toddlers that show genuine thought.
Whether the price feels right depends on which room you book. However, in the majority of cases the upgrade from a basic Bugbies room to a themed character room is almost always worth it.
